Douglas' Emmy Predictions
2 more days, So I think I should predict the damn awards might as well. As much as I hate the emmy academy for doing a crap job in nomination, but there are still some good choices. Mind you I suck at predicting in Emmy, but now I am keeping in mind that the "Emmy recycles".
Best Drama:
Boston Legal
Grey's Anatomy
Heroes
House
The Sopranos
Will? I am going to say boldly that this award will go to The Sopranos. I think this is the best in the batch and since this is the last season of The Sopranos, Might as well go for it...
Could? Crappy Boston Legal and boring Grey's Anatomy can snag this one, unless they go all edgy again and pick Heroes, which I think is cool, I think...
Should? The Sopranos like I said I THINK it is the best in the batch but
Snubbed? Friday Night Lights, Battlestar Galactica, Dexter instead they went with their usual suspects...
Drama Lead Actor:
James Gandolfini, The Sopranos ("The Second Coming")
Hugh Laurie, House ("Half-Wit")
Denis Leary, Rescue Me ("Retards")
James Spader, Boston Legal ("Angel of Death")
Kiefer Sutherland, 24 ("Day 6: 5am-6am")
Will? james Gandolfini's iconic Tony Soprano will go home a winner, again.
Could? Laurie seems to have the loves of HFPA and SAG but I guess that is not enough. And hey let us not forget that they love Spader, and might upset Gandolfini, and me.
Should? Gandolfini, hey this is a no brainer. Leary and Laurie are overrated, Sutherland was Ok and Spader I just Hate.
Snubbed? Kyle Chandler in Friday Night Lights, commanding unlike the 4 in the list.
Drama Lead Actress:
Patricia Arquette, Medium ("Be Kind, Rewind")
Minnie Driver, The Riches ("Pilot")
Edie Falco, The Sopranos ("The Second Coming")
Sally Field, Brothers & Sisters ("Mistakes Were Made, Part 2")
Mariska Hargitay, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit ("Florida")
Kyra Sedgwick, The Closer ("Slippin'")
Will? I have a gut feeling that the Flying Nun Sally Field will win this. I don't know, hmmm I loved her in the series plus she is a well beloved actress.
Could? Sedgwick is gunning for this award for a few years now thus making her a close second, But I think that they love Falco also, thus making her a very very close third.
Should? I would be extremely happy if either Driver or Field takes this award. I won't be happy if hey give it to Arquette.
Snubbed? Connie Britton in Friday Night Lights, Calista Flockhart in Brothers and Sisters. I must be dreaming to think that they were deliberately snubbed especially the former.
Drama Supporting Actor:
Michael Emerson, Lost ("The Man Behind the Curtain")
Michael Imperioli, The Sopranos ("Walk Like A Man")
T.R. Knight, Grey's Anatomy ("Six Days, Parts 1 & 2")
Masi Oka, Heroes ("Five Years Gone")
Terry O'Quinn, Lost ("The Man From Tallahassee")
William Shatner, Boston Legal ("Son of the Defender")
Will? I have a feeling that Shatner will snag this one again, but that would be the downright stupid so I will go with Terry O'Quinn.
Could? If the love for The Sporanos will linger all through the night, Imperioli can easily snag this award. But that Shatner is a fucking threat at least for me. Knight may get sympathy votes for all the gay issues.
Should? Masi Oka or O'Quinn both great but i favor the former.
Snubbed? Zach Gilford, Now I just sound silly trying to push Friday Night Lights hehehehe
Drama Supporting Actress:
Lorraine Bracco, The Sopranos ("The Blue Comet")
Rachel Griffiths, Brothers & Sisters ("Bad News")
Katherine Heigl, Grey's Anatomy ("Time After Time")
Sandra Oh, Grey's Anatomy ("From A Whisper to a Scream")
Aida Turturro, The Sopranos ("Soprano Home Movies")
Chandra Wilson, Grey's Anatomy ("Oh, the Guilt")
Will? Chandra Wilson is a well beloved actress, and it shows, she has HFPA and SAG to boast.
Could? The girls of Sopranos can take this easily.
Should? Griffiths, because she was snubbed constantly for Six feet Under, oh my whattareason that was!? uhm because she is great in a soapy TV series.
Snubbed? Katee Sackhoff in Battlestar Galactica, because she is the best in that series for Season 3.
Best Comedy Series:
Entourage
The Office
30 Rock
Two and a Half Men
Ugly Betty
Will? I'm going to tough it out and say that the superb Ugly Betty is going to take this award, though The Office won this one last year (Hey Doug! the Emmy Recycles!) and 30 Rock may also cause a stir.
Could? The Office or 30 Rock. Two and a Half Men is just plain stupid and the last season of Entourage was so so.
Should? Ugly Betty all the way!
Snubbed? Weeds, again. and as if it is gonna happen...
Comedy Lead Actor:
Alec Baldwin, 30 Rock ("Hiatus")
Steve Carell, The Office ("Business School")
Ricky Gervais, Extras ("Sir Ian McKellen")
Tony Shalhoub, Monk ("Mr. Monk Gets a New Shrink")
Charlie Sheen, Two and a Half Men ("Who's Vod Kanockers?")
Will? Baldwin for being the funniest guy on TV last year.
Could? Gervais and Carrell. Carrell because He should have won last year. Gervais because it looks like a favorite (see its another nominations). And since the emmy recycles Shalhoub is my close second, though I feel stupid already just saying it.
Should? Baldwin even though he calls his daughter a rude little piggy.
Snubbed? Roday?
Comedy Actress:
America Ferrera, Ugly Betty ("Pilot")
Tina Fey, 30 Rock ("Up All Night")
Felicity Huffman, Desperate Housewives ("Bang")
Julia Louis-Dreyfus, New Adventures of Old Christine ("Playdate with Destiny")
Mary-Louise Parker, Weeds ("Mrs. Botwin's Neighborhood")
Will? America Ferrera has the edge among all the other nominees.
Could? Since the emmy recycles, Dreyfus can win this easily, and the same goes to huffman, who I think still is great and still my favorite housewife.
Should? America Ferrera, because I love her to bits and she deserves this. though a Parker win won't upset me as much since she should have won last year.
Snubbed? Lauren Graham, they just love to see her not nominated!
Comedy Supporting Actor:
Jon Cryer, Two and a Half Men ("Repeated Blows to His Unformed Head")
Kevin Dillon, Entourage ("The Resurrection")
Neil Patrick Harris, How I Met Your Mother ("Showdown")
Jeremy Piven, Entourage ("Manic Monday")
Rainn Wilson, The Office ("The Coup")
Will? (The Emmy recycles) Piven can easily win this.
Could? Harris or Wilson, since they are both funny.
Should? Neil Patrick Harris because he upped his game this year.
Snubbed? Ugly Betty's Michael Urie!
Comedy Supporting Actress:
Conchata Ferrell, Two and a Half Men ("Repeated Blows to His Unformed Head")
Jenna Fischer, The Office ("The Job")
Elizabeth Perkins, Weeds ("Pittsburgh")
Jaime Pressly, My Name Is Earl ("Jump for Joy")
Holland Taylor, Two and a Half Men ("The Sea is a Harsh Mistress")
Vanessa Williams, Ugly Betty ("Don't Ask, Don't Tell")
Will? Since Megan Mullaly is not in the running anymore, Pressly who was supposed to win last year could win this year however, the ugly Betty love could translate to a Williams win also. So I am predicting Williams.
Could? Fischer and Pressly are superb in their shows
Should? Kelly Bish.. errr Jamie Pressly it is.
Snubbed? Kelly Bishop, her last season was her best.
Now you can star laughing.
