2008 RacsO Awards: Best Cinematography

Javier Aguirresarobe
Vicky Cristina Barcelona

And can I say that the sunny Barcelona was exquisitely gorgeous and thanks for Javier Aguirresarobe for bringing so much life in "Vicky Cristina Barcelona". Everything was so luminous and gorgeous, the vibrant cinematography made the stars especially Penelope Cruz, sexier and sultrier.

Albert Banzon
Daybreak

The Tagaytay cut scenes are to die for, Philippines never looked this good in film and Albert Banzon's work made me proud. The faintly lit and sometimes foggy rest house was made another character of this story. It was a gloomy story and the rest house set the theme for that.

Cesar Charlone
Blindness

Gimmicky in its choices to shift shots from first person to third person. Downright morose and often times monochromatic gray. Charlone brought beauty from the loneliest of places.

Roger Deakins and Chris Menges
The Reader

From Hannah's apartment to the courtroom then to prison, Menges and Deakins' work is a cinematic feat. It does not need grandiose scenery to capture the beauty of the surroundings. Everything was expressively lit to bring out the somber and melancholy of the film.

Hoyte Van Hoytema
Let the Right One In

Cold and creepy, Hoytema was successful in bringing in the chills with his beautifully shot simplicity in "Let The Right One In". From the creepily lit night scenes in the snow and inside the house specially the bathroom, to the luminous morning shots of snow and hallways and bedroom, Hoytema brought the beauty out of his simple surroundings.

2008 RacsO Awards: Best Original Screenplay

Charliebebs Gohetia
Daybreak

A story of a life that could have been but was not, a story of two men in love with each other, one hoping that the other would leave his wife for him but just couldn't. Gohetia created a simple but very piercing love story of two men getting back together in a night out in Tagaytay to reminisce about the fun days and contemplate on the time that they have left together. What made the movie all the more special than it was is the fact that the conversations felt very real, it is something that you would actually hear from two lovers and that is what made it original.

Jenny Lumet
Rachel Getting Married

A story of a recovering junkie returning home from rehab to attend her sister's wedding only to face personal demons and face her family problems. Lumet's "Rachel Getting Married" does not simply tell the story of one, the screenplay gave each character present in the story to have a story of their own. It never languors or slack in story telling. Most especially how Lumet handled the story of the mother that made Winger's appearances memorable and yet you still feel her around even though she is not.

Martin McDonagh
In Bruges

A story of two hit men, one grew conscience on a collateral damage made in a church mission, the other torn between his boss' decision to kill his buddy or to protect him. McDonagh's very unique story of two hit men "In Bruges" was the very definition of originality. The thing about this movie is that you never can guess what is bound to happen next, well you can only speculate bt then again it will surprise you with its wit in telling a very original and often times silly story.

Chukiat Sakveerakul
Love of Siam

A coming of age story of two adolescents who were best buddies when they were young who fell in love with each other, each comforting the sadness that the other one feels. "Love of Siam" may be more than two hours long but the fact that it did not feel dragging and soap-y made the movie all the more interesting. Yes it was gay themed, but you hardly felt that, Sakveerakul concocted a very unique story of life, love and friendship.

Andrew Stanton
Wall-E

A story of two robots, one whose directive was to clean the dying earth grew curiosity and fell in love with another robot in mission to find vegetative life on earth and return to the mother ship her findings. Stanton successfully created two stories into one. "Wall-E" was part love story and was part message story, but never preachy at that. Stanton has found perfect balance on the two relatively different topics thus creating the year's important and one of the year's most romantic movie.

2008 RacsO Awards: Best Film Editing

Tomas Alfredson and Daniel Jonsater
Let the Right One In

A movie need not be over edited for it to be nominated. Sometimes less is better (Haven't they learned that from "No Country for Old Men" last year). Alfredson and Jonsater decided to keep the tension and the terror taut and crisp. Everything adds up together to the climactic first act ending were all the terror was unleashed.

Olivier Bugge Coutte
Reprise

If you are going to be tricky and playful with the editing, "Reprise" is a perfect example. Energetic and effortlessly does flashbacks of past and future. The shifting of storyline and time points was fluidly made.

Lee Chatametikool
Love of Siam

Juggling several points of view from several characters from lead to supporting. Though it may not be as boggly as Squyres work, but ever character arch and soul was bare. The fluidity of the passing of point was done impeccably.

Tim Squyres
Rachel Getting Married

Sqyres has the arduous task of getting the emotion of each of the members of the huge ensemble cast. Also to successfully give balance on capturing each of the cast members. Squyres did just all of that and it was superb.

Andrew Weisblum
The Wrestler

Minimalistic put to greater effect. Piercing and totally engaging, Weisblum kept the tension and the momentum all bringing us to the climactic perfectly edited final body slam.

2008 RacsO Awards: Best Make Up

The Dark Knight

The reinvention of the Joker was a perfect choice. The Joker would have not worked if the make up would have stayed the same ala Nicholson.

The Reader

The aging of Kate Winslet was created beautifully. It was not over the board a la Blanchett in Benjamin Button.

The Wrestler

Everything from the Ram's over-tanned skin to the bloody scenes were expertly made.

2008 Oscar Winners

Best Picture: Slumdog Millionaire
BOO!

Best Actor: Sean Penn (Milk)
So Rourke has to sit this one out. Wonderful win though, it was a stellar work. But I would go for a Rourke win in a heartbeat

Best Actress: Kate Winslet (The Reader)
Finally!

Best Director: Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire)
As much as I love Boyle I still firmly believe he does not deserve this award.

Best Foreign Language Film: Departures (Japan)

I haven't seen this one so I really can't comment. But this quite possibly is the biggest upset of the night so far

Best Original Song: Jai Ho (Slumdog Millionaire)
Rahman butchered his songs

Best Original Score: A. R. Rahman (Slumdog Millionaire)
This was a good win. Expected and somewhat deserving. This is one of the few aspects of Slumdog that I would consider it for a nom

Best Film Editing: Chris Dickens (Slumdog Millionaire)
And the boring continues

Best Sound Mixing: Slumdog Millionaire

Can't really argue with this win

Best Sound Editing: The Dark Knight

take that Slumdog!

Best Visual Effects: The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
Great win

Best Supporting Actor: Heath Ledger (The Dark Knight)

BEST SUPPORTING ACTING PERFORMANCE OF THE YEAR

Best Cinematography: Anthony Dod Mantle (Slumdog Millionaire)
good choice but not the best in the bunch

Best Make Up: The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
The Dark Knight prediction was a wishful thinking hahaha

Best Costume Design: Michael O'Connor (The Duchess)
Oops got this one wrong but I had him as alternate.

Best Art Direction: The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (Donald Graham Burt)
I think that they now be happy because Button won one.

Best Animated Feature: Wall-E (Andrew Stanton)
Duh! Who else?!

Best Adapted Screenplay: Simon Beaufoy (Slumdog Millionaire)
Boo. That is all I can say. For a moment there I thought it would go to "The Reader" but hey I can dream.

Best Original Screenplay: Dustin Lance Black (Milk)

Though I do not think that it is the year's best but it is indeed one of the bests.

Best Supporting Actress: Penelope Cruz (Vicky Cristina Barcelona)

Very Deserving. I love her in Vicky Cristina Barcelona.

FYI I am predicting...
Presto (Animated Short)
Toyland (Live Action Short)
Man on Wire (Documentary Feature)
The Final Inch (Documentary Short)

Oscar 2008 Final Predix

Best Picture
Predicted Winner: Slumdog Millionaire
Dark Horse: The Reader
Rooting For: The Reader
Everyone knows Slumdog is going to win but the love for the last project by Minghella and Pollack will prove to be a force to be reckon with.

Best Director
Predicted Winner: Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire)
Dark Horse: David Fincher (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button)
Rooting For: Stephen Daldry (The Reader)
With the backing of almost every award giving body, Boyle is bound to win. Fincher though could upset but I am rooting for Daldry, they love him right?

Best Actor
Predicted Winner: Mickey Rourke (The Wrestler)
Dark Horse: Sean Penn (Milk)
Rooting For: Mickey Rourke (The Wrestler)
If Penn had not won 5 years ago I would predict him here though I could still see him winning. This is Rourke's award to lose.

Best Actress
Predicted Winner: Kate Winslet (The Reader)
Dark Horse: Meryl Streep (Doubt)
Rooting For: Anne Hathaway (Rachel Getting Married)
For me this award could go to for actresses but Winslet is the one to beat. SAG winner Streep is the close runner up followed closely by critical faves Anne Hathaway and Melissa Leo. And then Sally Hawins will miraculously win this award.

Best Supporting Actor
Predicted Winner: Heath Ledger (The Dark Knight)
Dark Horse: Philip Seymour Hoffman (Doubt)
Rooting For: Heath Ledger (The Dark Knight)
Duh! this is the only lock I see. But if they want to fuck him up again by giving the award to a lesser performance such as Hoffman's then fuck fuck fuck it is.

Best Supporting Actress
Predicted Winner: Penelope Cruz (Vicky Cristina Barcelona)
Dark Horse: Viola Davis (Doubt)
Rooting For: Marissa Tomei (The Wrestler)
Cruz in the Allen film will win this one though might face challenge with the remaining four nominees. Davis who was highly memorable in Doubt is very close behind. But let us not count out Taraji P. Henson could turn out to be the surprise winner of the night.

Best Adapted Screenplay
Predicted Winner: Simon Beaufoy (Slumdog Millionaire)
Dark Horse: David Hare (The Reader)
Rooting For: David Hare (The Reader)
After winning accolades of precursor awards, Slumdog is bound to win here again. But the academy loves "The Reader" and they could win here too.

Best Original Screenplay
Predicted Winner: Dustin Lance Black (Milk)
Dark Horse: Courtney Hunt (Frozen River)
Rooting For: Andrew Stanton (Wall-E)
Frozen River seems to have a strong fanbase so it can win this award. But since Penn will lose best Actor, methinks Milk will take this one.

Best Cinematography
Predicted Winner: Anthony Dod Mantle (Slumdog Millionaire)
Dark Horse: Claudio Miranda (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button)
Rooting For: Roger Deakins and Chris Menges (The Reader)
The Slumdog bandwagon can easily take this one but technical fave, Benjamin Button could make a strong showing in the techs but could go home empty handed.

Best Film Editing
Predicted Winner: Lee Smith (The Dark Knight)
Dark Horse: Chris Dickens (Slumdog Millionaire)
Rooting For: Elliot Graham and Gus Van Sant (Milk)
Heavily edited Slumdog is bound to win here again but remember the Bourne Ultimatum last year? winning over the heavily favored Oscar BP frontrunner? this could go to Lee Smith easily.

Best Art Direction
Predicted Winner: Donal Graham Burt (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button)
Dark Horse: Michael Carlin (The Duchess)
Rooting For: Nathan Crowley (The Dark Knight)
Most nominations could translate to more wins, and if that is the case Benjamin Button will take this one. In fact this is the only category I see this movie winning. But eye candy "The Duchess" is a clear threat.

Best Costume Design
Predicted Winner: Jacqueline West (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button)
Dark Horse: Michael O'Connor (The Duchess)
Rooting For: Catherine Martin (Australia)
Another category where Benjamin Button can win but is facing a heavy challenge with Michael O'Connor. Then again, they loved Martin in Moulin Rouge! right?

Best Visual Effects
Predicted Winner: The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
Dark Horse: Iron Man
Rooting For: The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
Ain't it cool to see Brad Pitt old then young? Button can slay this category provided Summer fave Iron Man don't show up a strong contender

Best Make Up
Predicted Winner: The Dark Knight
Dark Horse: The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
Rooting For: The Dark Knight
They all love The Joker and the very inventive reimagining of his look can land them a win here.

Best Original Score
Predicted Winner: A. R. Rahman (Slumdog Millionaire)
Dark Horse: Danny Elfman (Milk)
Rooting For: Thomas Newman (Wall-E)
I think that the jumpy beats by Rahman could win this and I think he will. Not that he is not deserving.

Best Original Song
Predicted Winner: "Down to Earth" Wall-E
Dark Horse: "Jai Ho" Slumdog Millionaire
Rooting For: "O Saya" Slumdog Millionaire
Pissed off here because they could have gone with 5 nominees including one for Springsteen but then again they would go selecting 3 nominees only.

Best Sound Mixing
Predicted Winner: The Dark Knight
Dark Horse: Slumdog Millionaire
Rooting For: Wall-E

Best Sound Editing
Predicted Winner: Wall-E
Dark Horse: Slumdog Millionaire
Rooting For: Wall-E

Best Animated Film
Predicted Winner: Wall-E
Dark Horse: Kung Fu Panda
Rooting For: Wall-E

Best Foreign Language Film
Predicted Winner: The Class
Dark Horse: Revanche
Rooting For: Pass....

2/18/09

2008 RacsO Awards: Best Art Direction

Jon Billington
City of Ember

This movie passed through to the viewers' and critics' eyes without even noticing how beautiful the movie was to look at (the movie was just OK to hold my attention for almost two hours of ho hum OK-ness). The set were both futuristic yet with a blend of Harry Potter feel. It was lovely hot Billington played around with the colors red and yellow.

Ged Clarke
The Fall

Every little corner of this movie was well designed. The hospital was gloomishly green and Alexandria's story was childish, playful and wonderfully brightly colored. Everything seem deceptively simple but it was intricately detailed.

Ralph Eggleston
Wall-E

Starting from the filthy, trashed down Earth to the colorfully lit spaceship Eggleston has made two completely different worlds and effortlessly made them both beautifully put together. Two worlds with two purpose: to deliver the message of a dying earth and the other to convey a love story of two robots.

Catherine Martin
Australia

Catherine Martin continues to razzle dazzle us by showing a completely different set very different from "Moulin Rouge!" but was equally beautiful. The surrounding should always be a supporting cast for a movie and "Far Away Downs" did just that. Martin was able to evoke characters from her set pieces and paying homage to Old Hollywood films.

Eva Noren
Let the Right One In

For the movie to be as creepy as it was, everything (technically speaking) should be working as one, the Cinematography was utterly breathtaking, the editing and most especially the naturally beauty of its set. Everything from the cottony pillow-y thick white snow, to the somber rooms and the wash area with the bath tub, Noren's work was a beauty to behold.

2/14/09

2008 RacsO Awards: Best Supporting Actor

Gael Garcia Bernal
Blindness

As the tyrant and abusive King of Ward Three, Gael Garcia Bernal continues to prove that he is one of the best foreign actors (methinks he is the best and he directs too!). He was playful, scary and carnal at the same time, something the character would have been and Bernal successfully put that to screen. At first you would have thought that he would be given a very scant time a la "Babel" but though he does not appear and speak until the middle of the movie, he sure did made an impact and you would just want to slice him too.

Robert Downey Jr.
Tropic Thunder

As the dude playin' the dude, disguised as another dude, Robert Downey Jr. as Kirk Lazarus is the multiple Oscar winner who was identity issues (he probably lost his playing so many characters) is one of the best performances that Downey has given for a long time. Lately laught out loud comedies has started to get better and the actors in it continue to excel and why shouldn't they be recognized when the performance is as good as this. Downey regained his mojo in "Iron Man" but it was in "Tropic Thunder" that he gave his best work of the year. It was perfectly hilarious and it was a comic masterpiece.

Bill Irwin
Rachel Getting Married

As the mediating patriarch of a semi-dysfunctional family, Paul, Bill Irwin finally showcased his talent to give what could be one of the most lovable father characters of the year. Paul did not want any arguments and tried to avoid getting stuck in the middle of it. He was the heart of this movie, he may have issues of his own but he hides it underneath layers other emotions, he does not want his family to see it but when it becomes impossible to hide he just walks away. Irwin, who before "Rachel Getting Married" was someone I do not know but after seeing him in this movie I think I will remember him for years to come.

Heath Ledger
The Dark Knight

As the sick and demented arch enemy of Batman, Heath Ledger's Joker already ranks high in the list of best villains ever put to screen. Ledger's reinvention and internalization of the Joker was stuff of pure genius and the award giving bodies are recognizing that accordingly. It was miles better than Anton Chigurh last year in "No Country for Old Men" and heck I still even think that it was better than Hannibal Lecter in "Silence of the Lambs", both are Oscar winning roles and same goes with Ledger because I think that he deserves that Oscar more than any actor nominated this year. This was his second to last screen appearance and he did solidify that he was one of the best actors of our time.

Brad Pitt
Burn After Reading

As the doltish gym personal trainer, Chad Feldheimer, Brad Pitt tapped into his comic side to deliver one of his best works to date. It seems unfair that he is getting citations for his work in a lesser performance (as Benjamin Button) and lesser movie (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button) when in fact his star shone brightest playing a very dumb fella and maybe he would fare more doing comedies. The last expression he did alone was a sight of delight and made you remember the great Brad Pitt performance he has not given since "Fight Club".

2/11/09

2008 RacsO Awards: Best Original Score

Carter Burwell
Burn After Reading, In Bruges and Twilight

Quite possibly the busiest musical composer of 2008 was Carter Burwell who created thrilling and playful scores for "Burn After Reading" and "In Bruges". He also made memorable and romantic feel for the vampire saga "Twilight"

Nico Muhly
The Reader

Minimalistic but put to great effect. Haunting, harrowing and moving, Nico Muhly elevated the melancholy and drama of "The Reader". Muhly for me was unknown pre "The Reader" but with this kind of work he will go in the ranks of the bests.

Thomas Newman
Wall-E

If the key actors of your movie does not talk, your music accompaniment should do the talking, and that is what Thomas Newman did in "Wall-E". Newman made the music talk and was able to successfully convey the message perfectly.

Laurent Perez
Fear[s] of the Dark

Extremely creepy and scary, Laurent Perez set the mood of the fear inducing "Fear[s] of the Dark". This was an experiment that lead to great success, one film split into parts, one may not be as scary as the other but it was in a whole melodically beautiful.

A. R. Rahman
Slumdog Millionaire

Pulse raising fun, A. R. Rahman set the beat for the elongated music video "Slumdog Millionaire". It's Bollywood meets M.I.A., it was thubthumping fun, energetic and overzealous, everything Danny Boyle was aiming for the feel of this film would be.

2008 RacsO Awards: Best Costume Design

Patricia Field
Sex and the City Movie

I am now more than ever convinced that Patricia Field knows how to dress them glamorous women. She could go to uber classy (those very beautiful wedding gowns!) then to beautiful wearable casual wear. Sex and the City is a showcase of talent in costume design. It was like an overblown runway.

Danny Glicker
Milk

Costumes made for men rarely get the attention compared to those for women. But Danny Glicker dressed up the men of "Milk" that made them very flattering for those who wore it. It made me want to wear those coat and ties too.

Eiko Ishioka
The Fall

Colorful, playful and stunningly avant garde. The costumes matched Alexandria's point of view of the story being told to her. The costumes differ so much per character but what it did was to add up toi the beauty of the film.

Catherine Martin
Australia

Any costume designer that could make Nicole Kidman look like a Goddess (which she already is) is a big big plus for me. Catherine Martin created ethereal costumes ranging from elegant to dusty and masculine

Jacqueline Durran
Happy-Go-Lucky

Poppy's wardrobe alone would land Jacqueline Durran for a nod here. Poppy's clothes adds up to her character, it was colorful, vivacious, sexy, eccentric and one of a kind. It was a little retro mixed contemporary, Not only Poppy's clothes but also her friends clothes are also dressed up beautifully. Think 80's Madonna but less dominatrix.

2/9/09

2008 RacsO Awards: Best Original Song

"Southern Country"
Cape No. 7
Performed by Van Fan

Heartfelt and beautifully written. "Southern Country" does more than just being a great song, it tells us a story and the words translates beautifully. Very apt for the movie and if I were in the crowd singing to this song played live, I'd be one of those singing aloud and screaming.

"Nag-iisa Wala Ka Na"
Daybeak
Performed by Noel Cabangon

Noel Cabangon has consistently made great ballads and with this one he has outdone himself. Creating a heartbreaking song about love and being alone. Listening to it makes me cry that's how powerful it was.

"Together"
Love of Siam
Performed by Witwisit Hiranyawongkul

A love pop song that is best felt when read (well because it is Thai). It was sung by Mew in the movie, this was his song for Tong, he performed it twice; the first time was their welcome to the "return" of Tong's sister and the second was in a concert where Mew sung it in front of many people. There was an unwritten dedication for the song, but that was very much felt. Simple, cute, catchy and memorable.

"Never Think"
Twilight
Performed by Robert Pattinson

One of the best songs of the year came from artist that I did not know that he could sing. Robert Pattinson's "Never Think" was a simple yet it is the most memorable track in a rock filled soundtrack. And quite possibly the song is better than the movie.

"The Wrestler"
The Wrestler
Performed by Bruce Springsteen

Monumental that's all I can say. The song may not be that flashy vocally or technically because it is generally an acoustic song. Title aside, listening to it makes you remember the movie and you felt what Randy the Ram was feeling.

2/8/09

2008 RacsO Awards: Best Sound Editing

Fear(s) of the Dark

Creep, eerie and scary.

Iron Man

Bombastic missile firing fun.

Kung Fu Panda

Mix of animal sounds fighting with explosive fight sequences

Speed Racer

Wildly imaginative amd futistic.

Wall-E

Robotic and futuristic sounds

2008 RacsO Awards: Best Sound Mixing

The Dark Knight

From the swooshes and the bang bangs and the boom booms "The Dark Knight" especially when experience on big screen in surround sound is quite an experience.

The Fall

From the silent hospital to the dreamy story telling then to Lee Pace's hypnotic sounding voice, boy can he tell me stories all day long and I'd give him all the morphine he needs.

Rachel Getting Married

The inter-lapping conversation mixed with the music playing all the times was spot on and brought the mood of the film, most especially the wedding sequence. "Rachel Getting Married" has passion for music and ain't that obvious.

Wall-E

"Wall-E" relied so much on sound because almost all of the robots in this film rarely speak. From the beautiful love sequences in the beginning to the new found space world then to the chase scenes, everything was aurally perfectly mixed. This was as close as we could get the musical event og the year (fuck Mamma Mia).

The Wrestler

Mixing 80's guitar rock riffs with crowd cheers to natural silences, "The Wrestler" was simply made but aurally and visually beautiful.

2/7/09

2008 RacsO Awards: Best Ensemble Cast

Cape No. 7

"Cape No. 7" has a big ensemble cast and they work best when they are together. I really liked the band rehearsal scenes where each color of the band members are shown; the weird kid pianist, the crosspatched guitarist, the over zealous bassist, the ancient tambourine player, the desperate but hoping drummer and the reserved and secretive lead guitarist and toss in a neurotic Japanese model and a bad tempered, abusive director, mayor wannabe then you have a wild bunch, something you might not think that could click but they worked as one in "Cape No. 7".

Love of Siam

"Love of Siam" like Cape, has a big ensemble cast and most of them are children (Mew's classmates predominantly) and they all delivered thus creating this teen drama the classic status that it has now. Lead by the superb Mario Maurer as Mew and Wiuttwisit Hiranyawongkul as Mew, yes it was about them but the interesting thing about the supporting cast is that they all have stories of their own connecting to the stories that of the leads.

Reprise

Intellectual clash, if everyone in your clique was smart, literarily smart, I imagine that the conversations would look exactly like what the cast of "Reprise" had delivered. Everyone has their drama and the cast had delivered performances that are very natural that it felt that you were watching a documentary about the lives of literary geniuses.

Rachel Getting Married

The dream cast of "Rachel Getting Married" is the type of cast that is something that you would expect that would come out of Robert Altman, but with Jonathan Demme's regained greatness and newly acquired skill brought this perfect cast to big screen. Lead by the superb and never-bee-this-great Anne Hathaway as a self centered recovering junkie and the a (quite) good breakthrough by Rosemarie Dewitt as Rachel. The supporting cast was to die for because every single one of them deserves citation most especially Debra Winger and Bill Irwin.

Serbis

"Serbis" brought together prime talents from the Philippines namely Jaclyn Jose, Gina Pareno and Coco Martin to name a few. The type of cast that would remind you of Gus Van Sant's auteur-ial works. Some may have smaller roles than other but they had left their marks on the story well. The story may not have focused on any story line because it was purposive-ly scattered to several plot lines but each character contributing to each others story was performed exquisitely well. Heck even the tattered down cinema house has its story to tell.

2008 RacsO Awards: Best Visual Effects

Cloverfield

Down from the small zergling monster to the mother monster this is a visual effects spectacle. Right after seeing the head of lady Liberty flying on New York city streets is a marvel to look at.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

The aging and the reverse aging were spot on perfect. They made Cate Blanchett and Brad Pitt look deliciously yummy when they were young. Pitt as an old looking young guy was made impeccably.

The Dark Knight

Visual effects are made to aid in movies and not to be overused and that was expertly done in this movie from every acrobatics and flying done by batman to the wildly and beautifully executed chase scene.

Iron Man

One of the most beloved Marvel characters was put to screen successfully. The final battle scene though lacking in action was a marvel to behold.

Wall-E

From the dirty dump site Earth to the colorful space life. This movie will be mistaken for live action film if it was not for the cartoon looking characters. Not to mention the fluidly made movements of every character be it human or robot.
