American Idol: Disco Night

"I'm Every Woman"
Lil Rounds
First off Lil Rounds. I have got to say girl you are going home and I hope you do! This performance was just bland bland bland! You should have gone home last week.
F

"She Works Hard For the Money"
Kris Allen
I still do think that after this performance, he is the dark horse of this competition probably just behind Iraheta. His rendition of this song was totally original and I can even imagine myself singing this cover!
A-

"September"
Danny Gokey
Weird arrangement. Good Vocals. I just don't care so much about him because he hardly changes things up. Not as good as they think it was.
C-

"Hotstuff"
Allison Iraheta
Of all the other contenders, it is her that I think that could outseat Adam Lambert. Her slow version of this song was at times tad messy but she belted it out.
B+

"If I Can't Have You"
Adam Lambert
PERFECT. Adam is the American Idol. No question.
A+

"Staying Alive"
Matt Giraud
May not be as bad as I thought it would be. I do think that he could sing well but I have got to agree with Simon that he ain't gonna win this.
B-

"Dim All the Lights"
Anoop Desai
MEDIOCRE and bad bad bad arrangement and bad last note. His vocals does not really go a par the better singers in this competition.
D

Best of the Night: Adam Lambert
Worst: Lil Rounds
Predicted be voted off: Anoop and Lil Rounds
Actual Result: Anoop and Lil Rounds

10 + 1 Favorite Movie Characters

I have not watched that many classic movies that is why this list is rather new. Give me three years or so then this list will change a whole lot.

Jules Winnfield
Samuel L. Jackson
Pulp Fiction

Coming from my favorite movie of all time, though many are saying that it was John Travolta's show methinks it was Samuel's show. From the excessive swearing to the bible quoting and to the cheeseburger discussions, Jules Winnfield makes you want to se ehim more.

Poppy
Sally Hawkins
Happy-Go-Lucky

This is the neweest character here but I think that Sally Hawkins created an Iconic always happy character.

Catwoman
Michelle Pfeiffer
Batman

"MEOW". One of the best villains ever. Michelle Pfeiffer was having one helluva fun as Catwoman and I am too. I still think that this is the best villain performance ever.

Ennis del Mar and Jack Twist
Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal
Brokeback Mountain

The best gay characters ever put to screen. Heck they are even one of the most romantic couples. Jake and Heath on top of their game.

Sally Bowles
Liza Minelli
Cabaret

Liza and all her greatness. Sally Bowles was and is the blueprint in all musical performance. Watch her "Money" performance.

Norman Bates
Anthony Perkins
Psycho

Creepy as hell. He looked innocent though until he her mama. And that evil grin at the end. Ooh gives me the chills.

Gollum
Andy Serkis
The Lord of the Rings Trilogy

Andy Serkis will be forever be remembered in this role. He cemented this character in the history books.

Edna Mode
Brad Bird
The Incredibles

This for me is the best animated character ever made. I wish there would be a spinoff and then they would make a story about her.

Tyler Durden
Brad Pitt
Fight Club

Arguably Pitt's best performance. Naughty, sexy and crazy.

Go Go Yubari
Chiaki Kuriyama
Kill Bill Vol.1

Admit it that you lover every minute seeing her on screen. I know I did. I want more of her. Go Quentin make a story about her.

RacsOview: "17 Again" (2009)

Going inside the cinema house, I was not a big fan of Zac Efron, in fact I loathed him in the High Scchool Musical franchise. I was just going to watch it because I wanted some time to relax because I was exhausted from work. But then, I said to myself that if it was a par high School Musical then maybe I'm in it for more than an hour of beating. After watching it, I would say that I enjoyed every minute of it and now I do not hate Zac Efron as much as before.

"17 Again" was summer flick pop corn definitive. It was everything that a summer movie should be: fun, light and entertaining. The thing is with this movie, I hardly care about the plot or storyline because I was just enjoying it for what it was. But kudos to Leslie Mann who was as always superb and ditto Zac Efron who was surprisingly charming and charismatic in his titular role outside HSM. I felt the same way about "The Devil Wears Prada", it was the sort of movie that you could watch over and over again and then still feel satisfied and happy, and it could make you forget the crapola that was being thrown at us.

American Idol Fixation

I think I should do a run down of the show since I am enjoying it a whole lot. Lotsa drama and lotsa great talents wasted this year. From day one, I was on the Adam Lambert bandwagon and I am still in it now and I am rooting for him to win the competition. I sorta did like Lil Rounds in the beginning and thought of her as a strong contender, but now I just want her to leave the damn show. Alison Iraheta is my bet for the girls, a very original performer methinks and 16 year old to boot. I will breeze through the past weeks and say my top 3 performances and 1 worst for each week.

Michael Jackson Week
Best of the Night: Adam Lambert (Black or White)
Runners Up: Alexis Grace (Dirty Diana) and Danny Gokey (P.Y.T.)
Worst of the Night: Jasmine Murray (I'll Be There)
This is when Adam Lambert solidified his status as the one to beat in the competition. Gokey was also superb but I have gotta give it to Grace who belted it out and gave on helluva performance.

Grand Ole Opry Week
Best of the Night: Megan Joy (Walkin' After Midnight)
Runners Up: Kris Allen (Make You Feel My Love) and Adam Lambert (Ring of Fire)
Worst of the Night: Lil Rounds (Independence Day)
Many loathed Adam this week but I kinda liked it, reminded me of Dilana's rendition of this song, which I loved. Megan was superb this week and was very sick. She should be sick all the time!

Motown Week
Best of the Night: Adam Lambert (The Tracks of my Tears)
Runners Up: Alison Iraheta (Papa Was a Rolling Stone) and Matt Giraud (Let's Get it On)
Worst of the Night: Megan Joy(For Once In My Life)
Adam surprised us again turning every thing soft to give one of the best performances ever in AI. And talk about a nose dive for Megan. And Matt was extra superb this week.

Popular iTunes Downloads Week
Best of the Night: Kris Allen (Ain't No Sunshine)
Runners Up: Danny Gokey (What Hurts the Most) and Adam Lambert (Play That Funky Music)
Worst of the Night: Matt Giraud (You Found Me)
Giraud was stupid to copy the Fray. Kris Allen hands down, his best performance to date.

Year They Were Born Week
Best of the Night: Adam Lambert (Mad World)
Runners Up: Alison Iraheta (I Can't Make You Love Me) and Matt Giraud (Part Time Lover)
Worst of the Night: Scott McIntyre (You Found Me)
Scott was banal from start and should have gone earlier. Alison continues to prove that she is Adam's runner up. And Adam once again, outdoing himself, giving his best to date.

Idol at the Movies Week
Best of the Night: Kris Allen (Falling Slowly)
Runners Up: Adam Lambert (Born to be Wild) and Alison Iraheta (I Don't Wanna Miss a Thing)
Worst of the Night: Lil Rounds (The Rose)
Fuck Lil Rounds is so fracking bad this week. Kris Allen gave justice to what could be my favorite song ever. He may be the dark horse.

RacsOview: Dragonball Evolution (2009)

Stupid as hell! Worst movie of the year no other movie could possible outsuck this one? I think I need not put effort in writing a review for this one.

RacsOview: I Love You, Man (2009)

"I Love You, Man" is another movie from following the footsteps of Judd Apatow and it follows the story of Peter Claven and his search for a guy best friend. Peter is going to get married and he found out along with his fiancee that he does not have a "best" male friend. He then decided to go out on series of man dates in search of the "best friend", one even turned out awry when the date turned out to be gay and end up kissing him after the man date. Then came along Sydney Fife who showed up in his open house and things blossomed from then on.

This is not a movie for Apatow fans (though Apatow's name did not appear in the film, it has his name written all over it), well almost not a movie for all Apatow straight male fans. The movie got easily hilariously weird when the Peter and Sydney formed a "bromance". But that could be easily overlooked because of Paul Rudd's perfect performance as Peter Claven. Talk about a career topping performance! This easily is the best male acting performance of the year so far. Jason Segel as Sydney Fife was not so bad himself But I have to give it to Jaime Pressly because she did often times stole the show as Zoey's loud mouth bickering best friend.

It was good solid fun. Crazy and awkwardly funny.

Happy Birthday Heath Ledger

Heath Ledger, arguably the best actor of his generation, would have been 30 this year if he had not accidentally overdosed. I would gravely miss him in years to come because I would not be seeing him any more post Parnassus. Anyways here is a list of my favorite Heath Ledger moments...

Monster's Ball

Even though he was not that much seen in this movie I think that he managed to steal some light from Berry.

Candy

Another stoned performance. This movie did not crossover that well from Australia. It was a great follow up to his Ennis.

Lords of Dogtown

Heath Ledger's performance in this movie as a stoner skater is his most undervalued work.

The Dark Knight

Iconic and monumental. Heath Ledger was The Joker.

Brokeback Mountain

The best performance ever put to screen. Bar none. I think that it would take time for some one to best this one out, well, at least for me. It's a mortal sin that the academy and award giving bodies felt the urge to give the award to a lesser performance.

RacsOview: Departures (2009)

It was last year's submission to Oscars from Japan and it will get wider release this year in the U.S. and had it been released earlier, "Departures" would have made a big splash in my awards. It was rather unknown for me last year when it got nominated but I was sort of intrigued with its plot when I have read the synopsis. After seeing it, my first reaction was that it blew me away.

This movie made me cry. It was about a guy who had talent playing the cello but his first orchestra got disbanded that forced him to move back to a less glamorous lifestyle moving out of the big city. He then landed a job as an "encoffiner", someone who dresses up and "fixes" the corpse before they were put inside the coffin.

It was such a simple story, put to great effect by the strong lead performance by Masahiro Motoki and a great supporting cast. Not to mention the beautiful cinematography and melancholic (PERFECT AND BEAUTIFUL) score by Joe Hisaishi. But the real star of this movie was the very original story. It was a sad story about death but then again it gave us hope for life afterwards. It was about the inevitability of death and how one should not dread on dying and just start living. Now I know why this movie won bet foreign language film. Saying that it is a masterpiece is undertating it. That's how much I loved the movie.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME

Hi guys it's my birthday today. April Fools. April 1. I'm fracking 23 and I am old. So in my birthday I will leave you with this video from 30 Seconds to Mars. Kick ass live performance. One of the bests I have seen.
